SEND Support Worker

We are seeking a caring and dedicated SEND Support Worker to join a welcoming primary school community near Wotton-under-Edge.

This is an opportunity to support children with additional needs in a school that values inclusion, resilience, respect, and working together to help every pupil achieve their potential. The successful candidate will play an important role in creating a safe, encouraging environment where children can build confidence and enjoy learning.

The role

You will:

• Support pupils with SEND within the classroom and during wider school activities
• Provide individual and small-group support to help children access learning
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Help children develop independence, confidence, and social skills
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and families to provide consistent support
• Promote an environment where children are ready, respectful, and safe in their learning and interactions.

What we're looking for

Formal qualifications are not essential, but experience supporting children or young people with additional needs is highly desirable.

We are looking for someone who is:

• Patient, calm, and compassionate
• Able to build positive relationships with children and colleagues
• Confident supporting pupils with varying needs and abilities
• A strong team player who values collaboration
• Resilient and committed to helping every child succeed.

Experience in schools, care settings, youth work, sports coaching, or similar roles would be beneficial.

Compliance requirements

All applicants must have:

• An enhanced child-only DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
• A minimum of 24 months of references covering employment, education, or relevant experience
• The right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
