Primary SEN Support Special Needs

Looking for a role where you can make a real difference?

We're working with a lovely high-needs school in Westerhope that is looking for a compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic SEND Support Assistant to join their team this September.

This is more than just a classroom support role. It's an opportunity to help children build confidence, develop independence, and celebrate achievements that others might overlook.

The school supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism, ADHD, communication and interaction difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. The team prides itself on creating a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, understood, and valued.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Helping children access learning in a way that works for them
  • Building positive relationships through consistency and trust
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Working alongside teachers, therapists, and other support staff
  • Encouraging independence and celebrating progress, no matter how small

What we're looking for

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential
  • A calm, patient, and positive approach
  • Confidence in building relationships with pupils who may present challenging behaviours
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

Whether you've worked in schools, care settings, youth work, residential support, or you're looking to begin a career in SEND, we'd love to hear from you.

Why this school?

This is a setting where relationships come first. Staff work together to create an environment where pupils can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

No two days are the same, but every day is rewarding. You'll be joining a team that supports one another, shares successes, and understands the importance of the work they do.

Why work with Protocol Education?

  • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella companies
  • FREE access to our online CPD Academy
  • Dedicated support from a specialist consultant
  • Opportunities across mainstream, SEND, and alternative provision settings
  • Streamlined registration process
  • Referral scheme with rewards for recommending friends and colleagues

Free Thrive Training Available

Not Thrive trained yet?

As part of your journey with Protocol Education, you'll have access to FREE Thrive training. Thrive helps develop a deeper understanding of behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and relationship-based support, giving you practical strategies that are highly valued within SEND settings.
