Job description
Protocol Education are seeking to recruit Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants for children with Special Educational Needs for long term work within the Loughborough area. The work is varied, but involves working with young people who exhibit often challenging behaviours, or have a diagnosis of Autism. We are seeking flexible, adaptable and personable support assistants to provide valuable interventions for those young people, and aid their academic and pastoral development.

Does any of the below apply to you?

Have you worked in schools for children with PMLD, SLD, MLD or SEMH?
Have you worked with children with extreme behavioural issues?
Do you have any 1 to 1 or group experience with children with Autism in any Key Stage setting?
Are you MAKATON or PECS trained and qualified?

We will consider teaching assistants who have worked in a mainstream setting with relevant skills and experience.

You will demonstrate a professional approach and be able to take the initiative and work effectively with permanent staff and have the attitude to form good relationships and be able to communicate effectively with parents and other professionals. It is vital that you hold a valid, recognised qualification and/or have had at least 6 weeks recent experience of teaching within a SEN environment in the UK.

You must:
• Be eligible to work in the UK
• Have experience working with SEND children in the UK in the last 3 years
• Have up to date professional childcare related references (covering the last 2 years)
• Have an enhanced DBS disclosure on the Update Service or be happy to apply for one

We undertake safeguarding checks on all our workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education'. As part of these checks, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in schools. If you do not have a valid subscription to the DBS Update Service, we will require you to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process, at a cost of £44.00.
