Job description
Secondary SEND Teacher

Location: Middlesbrough
Contract length: 06.05.2019-22.07.2019 with possibility of extension into the new academic year
Rate of pay: £121 - £179 per day

Protocol-Education are currently seeking an experienced Secondary teacher specialising in SEMH and behaviour management. The role will be based at a learning Hub providing 1:1 care to vulnerable children who are currently outside of the normal remit of standard schooling. Monday to Friday on a long-term basis until at least the end of the academic year. The children you will be working with often display complex needs and can have possibly experienced childhood trauma. Whilst experience is always welcomed, what comes first is personality, and how you can find a way to interact with the children in a way they will understand, relate to and feel comfortable with. As you will be working with children who think and act in their own way, that is exactly what we would be looking for in YOU.

We'd like someone with a natural flare, someone who is not afraid to implement ideas and think outside of the box and ultimately create something special and rewarding both for yourself and the students involved. Our aim is to make sure that all children, regardless of their situation or circumstances receive the best possible learning and care available, and quite simply work with a fantastic teacher that can instil a sense of excitement and bring out their full potential. if we share the same ideologies and if you have what it takes then we would absolutely love to hear from you.


Qualifications and key attributes needed:

· Qualified teacher with QTS or QTLS

· You will have experience of teaching pupils with social and emotional mental health needs either in a learning facility or mainstream school.

· An aptitude for engaging hard to reach students

· Patience and positivity in abundance

· Experience of mentoring, coaching, behaviour support/ intervention, training or experience of supporting students with trauma or Looked After Children

· Knowledge or training in SEND, Attachment Theory, Team Teach, de-escalation is also advantageous
