Job description
Secondary SEN Teacher – Autism Specialist

Location – North West London

Salary - £140 - £180

Job Type – Full time

A Special Needs School with "Outstanding" for four consecutive years in North West London is seeking to appoint a specialist SEN Teacher to join their team from September 2016. The school cater to Secondary and Further Education pupils with a range of needs, however the majority of pupils are on the autistic spectrum varying from mild to severe. As a result the school are seeking to appoint an ASD Teacher who can take over and continue the good work already established.

This excellent position has recently become vacant due to a re structure of the school’s staffing system. The role offers the opportunity to work with a hard-working and highly adaptable team of a specialist Teaching Assistant (TA), a higher level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) and a Speech and Language Therapist. The team are committed to each individual student giving them a great understanding of the needs and characteristics of the children in class. This combined with the schools wonderful and highly reputable SLT will ensure that you have the smoothest and most enjoyable handover.

The ideal candidate would have:

• A proven record of teaching SEN students with autism

• The ability to prepare and teach effective lessons taking into account the individual needs of learners

• A creative approach to lesson planning

• A patient, calm and engaging classroom manner

• Strong communication and team leadership skills
