Job description
Our client, a SEND School in South West London is seeking to appoint a specialist SEND Teacher to join their team from September 2017. The school cater to primary-age pupils who have been permanently excluded or are missing education. As a result the school are seeking to appoint a PRU Teacher who can hit the ground running, in order to ensure there is limited disruption within the classes.

The classroom team consists of a specialist Learning Support Assistant (LSA). The team are very friendly and have a great understanding of the needs and characteristics of the children in class.

All applicants should ideally have experience teaching students with challenging behaviour, preferably within a specialist SEN environment. The school however will consider good to outstanding primary teachers with recent experience teaching a pupil or pupils with more complex learning needs in a mainstream school, although the school are clear that the challenge will be difficult initially.

The ideal candidate would have:

• A proven record of teaching SEN students with challenging behaviour.

• A good understanding of P levels and the Key Stage 1/2 national curriculum.

• The ability to prepare and teach effective lessons taking into account the individual needs of learners.

• Confident with overcoming challenging behaviours.

• A creative approach to lesson planning.

• A patient, calm and engaging classroom manner.

• Strong communication and team leadership skills.

• Full teacher status.

• Registered DBS or be prepared to carry out a new DBS application.
