Job description
A number of SEND Schools in Derby and Derbyshire are seeking to appoint a specialist SEND Teachers to join their team. The schools cater to primary aged pupils with a range of needs.

The schools are looking for specialist Teachers who can hit the ground running, in order to ensure there is limited disruption for the children.

All applicants will ideally have experience teaching students with SEND, preferably within a specialist SEND environment. The schools will consider good to outstanding primary teachers with recent experience of teaching pupils with more complex learning needs / autism in a mainstream setting.

The ideal candidate would have:

• A proven record of teaching SEND pupils

• A good understanding of P levels and the Key Stage 1 & 2 national curriculum

• The ability to prepare and teach effective lessons taking into account the individual needs of learners

• A clear understanding of TEACCH practices and ABA techniques

• Have a basic understanding of PECS and Makaton

• A creative approach to lesson planning

• A patient, calm and engaging classroom manner

• Strong communication and team leadership skills

• Full teacher status with QTS

• Registered DBS or be prepared to carry out a new DBS application
