A specialist school in the heart of Croydon are currently looking for strong Learning Support Workers with the ability to work with severe challenging behaviours. Students are drawn from a borough which reflects a diverse urban community with more than 170 languages spoken with the age range of 14 to 16.

This School provides provision for pupils who have experienced significant gaps in their education. The school delivers a broad and balanced curriculum which enables learners to make progress within a nurturing environment also providing small class sizes and an after-school homework club and catch-up class tailored to individual support needs.

This role is solely for those who have a passion for young people, are patient and resilient. These young people have come from a range of different backgrounds and environments that have affected and shaped their emotional needs and thought process to life. Children that have huge gaps in their education are often not as confident in themselves as other young people. With the right support these young people can rebuild their confidence and attain success the same way everyone else does.

The ideal candidates for this position will have:

·Ideally worked with children in a safe guarded setting
·Flexibility - Willing to work across different age groups and classes
·The ability to create and maintain relationships
·Strong communication skills
·Ability to remain calm
·Punctual
·Reliable
·A good sense of humour
·Creative Personality
·Willingness to learn
·Good understanding of Special education needs
·Experience managing challenging behaviour


To work in this school you must endure patience, have a young person-centred approach, strong communication skills and a non-judgemental approach. These are key components to a successful candidate for this position. The pupils at this school have extreme challenging behaviour and require firm and consistent support.
