Learning support Assistant

September Start

A specialist school for pupils that have Severe/Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and/or disabilities, as well as learners who, additionally, are on the Autistic Spectrum with complex needs, are actively looking for support workers. This school age ranges from 3 to 19 years.

This school prides themelves on being a happy, vibrant learning community that inspires curiosity and creativity in their young people. This school believes that their pupils are children/young people first and special' second. They also strive to develop pupils' confidence, self-esteem, independence skills and achievement through praise, encouragement and the celebration of success.

This role is exclusively for those who want to make a difference in a child's life. These children have a range of severe and complex needs who will not only need emotional support but also physical and self-care help.


The ideal candidates for this position will have:

•Ideally worked with children in a safe guarded setting
•Flexibility - Willing to work across different age groups and classes
•The ability to create and maintain relationships
•Strong communication skills
•Ability to remain calm
•Punctual
•Reliable
•A good sense of humour
•Creative Personality
•Willingness to learn
•Good understanding of Special needs
• Are able to help with self-care provision


To work in this school, you need to be committed in supporting children the best way tailored for their specific need. Empathy, patience and good commination skills are key components to a successful candidate for this role. Most students at this school have severe learning difficulties as well as being diagnosed with autism and often require a lot of consistent support.
