We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist Resource Base within a welcoming and inclusive primary school in North Bristol. This Resource Base provides a nurturing environment where every child is recognised for their strengths and individuality, and where learning is tailored to meet a wide range of complex needs.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers and specialist staff to support pupils with SEND within the Resource Base and, where appropriate, across mainstream classes. You will help create a safe, engaging and inclusive environment where children can develop communication, independence, confidence and lifelong learning skills.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored support to pupils with a range of SEND needs.
  • Supporting personalised learning programmes and interventions.
  • Promoting communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing.
  • Encouraging independence, self-care and life skills development.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals.
  • Supporting pupils through play-based, engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
  • Helping to maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Supporting personal care needs where required.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have professional experience working with children or young people with SEND (essential).
  • Demonstrate a patient, caring and flexible approach.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be committed to inclusion and ensuring every child feels valued, respected and supported.
  • Be able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and families.
  • Remain calm, resilient and proactive when supporting children with additional needs.
  • Be able to provide two years of professional references.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.

Experience supporting children with autism, communication and interaction needs, severe or complex learning difficulties, SEMH needs, or sensory and physical needs would be highly advantageous.

What We Offer

  • A welcoming and highly inclusive school community.
  • The opportunity to work within a dedicated specialist Resource Base.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborative working with experienced education, health and care professionals.
  • A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to children's lives every day.
  • Flexible full-time and part-time opportunities
