Job description
British Sign Language Specialist Needed in Haringey

Are you BSL level 2 trained or above?

Are you interested in working in Education?

If you are then you then this might be the perfect role for you. We are currently looking for British Sign Language specialist to join a school based in the borough of Haringey. This is a special needs school that supports students with hearing impairments, these students are split between verbal and non-verbal.

This is a support role assisting the class teacher; all classes cover the core subjects of English, Maths and Science. The school has both a primary and a secondary site, with more than 70 students in the school. This is a hugely rewarding role and a great opportunity for anyone that is BSL level 2 trained and looking for a career in education.

The school are looking for individuals who are:

•British Sign Language level 2 trained or above

•Experienced working with children

• Able to manage behaviour

• Passionate about the potential for education and will go that extra mile every day

• Adaptable, and able to work in a challenging setting

• Interested in working in a different environment

• Committed and resilient

Main Duties:

• Supporting students with work set by the class teacher

• Helping with the behaviour management of the classroom

• Working with the teacher to assess pupils levels and ability

• Ensuring the schools ethos and policies are being implemented

• Liaising with parents and carers

If you do not have a valid subscription to the DBS Update Service, we will require you to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process, at a cost of £44.00
