Job description
SEND Teaching Assistant Position in Hackney

A school based in Hackney are looking to employ a teaching assistant with experience working with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) students in September. The school itself is a well run inclusive Special School for students aged 2-19. Every pupil at the school is treated as an individual and specific programmes are development to meet their needs, therefore a holistic approach is provided to learning through the expertise of a qualified multi-disciplinary staff team.

The class sizes are small due to the nature of the impairments and the maximum capacity is 8 children in each class. There is excellent-in class support provided by experienced high-level TA’s which helps to support the ratio of adults to pupils in the school.

The role requires you to be a confident support stuff and capable of assisting the classroom teacher with SEND students. Experience working with PMLD students is desired but experience with SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) or ASD (Autistic Spectrum Condition) children would also be considered.

Main Duties:

• Supporting students with work set by the class teacher

• Helping with the behaviour management of the classroom

• Working with the teacher to assess pupils levels and ability

• Ensuring the schools ethos and policies are being implemented

• Liaising with parents and carers
