Job description
We're looking for dedicated SENd Care Assistants to work within a Specialist Education setting in Darlington which caters for varying needs including Autism, Profound Needs and challenging behaviours. Someone who is motivated by helping others, patient and resilient would be perfect for this role.

The school provides care and education and support young people who have complex needs and specialise in the communication and learning challenges associated with this.

The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each child's potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide the young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable and understanding.

This can be achieved by assisting and supporting the class teacher, whilst also being responsible for safeguarding the young people. This will include making sure they are healthy, safe and as comfortable as possible and assisting with the physical, emotional and personal care needs for everyone.

Key responsibilities
• To ensure high standards of personal hygiene for each student and support them with personal care needs
• To promote structure, boundaries and domestic routines; ensuring a pleasant, clean and safe environment for the students in your care
• To carry out all duties, as directed by the class teachers to maximise learning opportunities for all children and young people
• To undertake relevant training programmes as and when required

• You must have some experience within an Educational setting or with Special Educational Needs.
• Further qualifications in Manual Handling/Hoist training are desirable but not essential.
