Job description
Behaviour Support Specialist

Location: Hartlepool
Duration: 23.04.2019-05.07.2019
Pay rate: £57-£71 per day dependant on experience

Protocol-Education are currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) close to the Hartlepool area, who are looking to recruit 2 x Behaviour Support Assistants to join them after Easter.

They have a number of children who have SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) and need confident and pro-active Learning Support Assistants to work with these children on both a 1:1 and group basis, this will be a full time position and your hours will be between 8:30-4 Monday-Friday, they may be looking to extend the contract beyond July to return after the school holidays, so ideally we would like people who will also be free after this period.

You will benefit from inspirational leadership, and the Pupil referral unit has also been rated Good' by Ofsted. This is due their dedication to their students as well as a focus on Curriculum enrichment, as well as opportunities for pupils to participate in local events and educational trips.

As part of your role you will be taking groups or individual children for targeted interventions and this work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area. Your role will be to promote individual students progress. You will be working alongside teaching staff to deliver support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. This is a challenging role and they are looking for people who are up for that challenge and have invested interests in working with and supporting vulnerable children.

Ideally you will have experience of dealing with challenging behaviour and have strategies or training to deal with this is a positive way. Experience of working within an educational setting, with children with ASD/SEMH would be beneficial however transferable skills from other employments and backgrounds will be considered.

What you will need is the energy and enjoyment of working with children and the ability to be proactive and multi-task, this is a high energy role where no two days will be the same and for the right person with a can-do and dynamic attitude this is an ideal position where you can make a difference in a rewarding environment.
