SEN Teaching Assistant - PRU / Alternative Provision

We are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South Shields.

This setting supports pupils who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education, including SEMH needs, trauma, ADHD, autism, attachment difficulties, and challenging behaviour.

The successful candidate will build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and support them both academically and emotionally.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
• Managing dysregulation and behaviour incidents calmly
• Using de-escalation and restorative approaches
• Supporting engagement in education
• Helping pupils develop emotional regulation and resilience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
