Protocol Education are currently recruiting teaching assistants to work in one of our outstanding schools. We are looking for fun, engaging and motivated professionals to work in an OUTSTANDING special needs schools in Lewisham. This particular school welcomes new staff and is known to look after their staff just as much as they look after their students. To encourage unity, the school invest in all successful candidates and train them throughout their placement.

As this is a special needs school you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of needs that include; speech & language difficulties, severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities and autism. This fun & caring environment requires successful candidates to support students with speech & language, develop sentence structure through the use of images, support them in play that include reading and sand play, take part in creative lessons that include music, art and movement. You will also encourage the use of sensory integration utilising materials that explore sound, touch & visual senses to stimulate students cognitive processes and learning.

Main responsibilities include:

• Working as part of a small team and supporting students collectively
• Partaking in creative lessons and encouraging students to feel involved and immersed
• Provide one to one support through out of the day to ensure students have a positive learning experience
• Assisting students and encouraging sensory integration with the aid of a designated sensory room
• Developing motor skills and encouraging physical independence
• Developing speech and language through the use of pictures and simple signing
