SEN Teaching Assistant – Rotherham

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have the patience, empathy and dedication to help every student reach their full potential?

We are currently seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in the Rotherham area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or someone with relevant childcare, education or support experience looking to develop their career in a school environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Assist students with their academic, social and emotional development.
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and completing classroom activities.
  • Help implement individual learning and support plans.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote independence.
  • Support students who may have communication, behavioural, sensory or learning needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN.
  • Is caring, patient, understanding and approachable.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Is confident supporting students with a range of additional needs.
  • Can remain calm and professional when managing challenging situations.
  • Is reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people.

Relevant qualifications or experience in SEN, education, childcare, psychology or support work would be advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
