Our friendly primary school in Gateshead is seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team this September.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions to support learning and development.
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt lessons and classroom activities.
  • Support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties and SEMH.
  • Encourage independence, resilience and confidence throughout the school day.
  • Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and social development.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to help pupils succeed.
  • Record observations and contribute to pupil progress meetings.
  • Build strong relationships with families and professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent support.
  • Help maintain a calm, safe and inclusive classroom where all children feel valued.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.
  • Is patient, empathetic and adaptable.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works effectively as part of a team.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
