Join Our Team as an SEN Teaching Assistant

We are looking for compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join a range of welcoming schools across Sheffield. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to thrive both academically and personally in a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Encourage student independence, confidence, and participation in classroom activities.
  • Help manage positive behaviour and promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and SENCOs to implement individual learning plans.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) is required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
