SEN Teaching Assistant – SEN Schools & PRUs | Middlesbrough
Immediate start available (once references and clearance are sorted)

Looking for a role where you genuinely make a difference every single day? This is one of those.

We’re working with SEN schools and Pupil Referral Units across Middlesbrough who are looking for calm, compassionate Teaching Assistants to support pupils who need a bit more understanding, structure, and patience.

If you’ve got experience in SEN and a steady, can-do approach, you’ll fit right in.

What’s the role?

You’ll be supporting students with a range of additional needs, helping them feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.

No two days are the same, but that’s part of the magic.

You might be:

  • Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Autism or PMLD
  • Working 1:1 or in small groups
  • Helping manage behaviour and build trust
  • Creating a calm, structured environment where students can thrive

Whether it’s a specialist SEN school or a PRU setting, your presence will make a real impact.

What’s in it for you?

✔ Immediate start roles available
✔ Supportive school teams who value what you bring
✔ Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella faff
✔ Free access to our CPD Academy
✔ A consultant who keeps things simple and has your back

What you’ll need

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Confidence supporting needs like ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD and challenging behaviours
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • SEN qualification or a care-based qualification
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
  • References ready for clearance

A quick heads-up

If you’re not already Thrive trained, it’s a great addition to your skillset, and we offer it free. Schools love seeing it, especially in SEN and PRU settings.

Not quite the right timing?

If you’re thinking ahead to September, we’ve got more SEN roles coming up across Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas. Long-term, permanent, or flexible, we’ll help you find something that fits.

Why this role?

Because this isn’t just support work, it’s life-changing work.

You’re the calm in the chaos, the steady voice, the person who helps a pupil get through the day. And schools notice that.

If you’re ready to step into a role where you’re truly needed, let’s get things moving.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
