Job description
Protocol Education are currently looking for teaching assistants based in the Croydon area, to work with SEN schools across Croydon. This school is based in a quiet, leafy area of Croydon and offers an abundance of parking. There are plenty of bus routes around the local area and train links. This school has fantastic ties within the local community and offer fantastic extra-curricular activities for the pupils to get involved in. You will be working with secondary school students ages 11-19 with varying degrees of Autism. As part of their team, you will be responsible for the progress and wellbeing of the pupils. The successful candidate will be a resilient, enthusiastic and committed teaching assistant.

Your main duties will include:
-Inspiring and engaging with young adults with physical and mental difficulties.
-Assessing individual learning needs and working on a group basis.
-Preparing materials, equipment and lessons
-Assessing and reporting on individual pupils' progress
-Assisting with the personal care needs of pupils; this may include feeding, changing and manual handling.
-Liaising with parents, carers and professionals such as mainstream teachers, education welfare officers, social workers and Healthcare professionals
-The successful candidates need to have previous experience of working with SEN students and have a strong desire of getting involved in every aspect of the school. Experience with children and young adults that have would be preferable.

Requirements
-Minimum 2 years of experience working with autism and challenging behaviour
-Have excellent communication skills
-Confident with the SEN code of practice
-Experience of supporting pupils of a Primary or Secondary age
