Some roles are about supporting learning.
This one is about changing a child's experience of school.
Protocol Education is working closely with a welcoming primary school in BS7 to recruit an experienced SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with complex additional needs.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who understands that trust comes before progress, and who can bring patience, consistency, and resilience to every school day. You'll play a key role in helping a young person feel safe, regulated, and able to engage positively with learning and school life.
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with a pupil who requires bespoke support to access education successfully. You'll build a strong, professional relationship while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations, creating an environment where the child can feel understood, valued, and empowered to succeed.
Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals, you'll follow tailored support plans and implement strategies that promote emotional wellbeing, engagement, and positive outcomes.
We're looking for someone who can remain calm under pressure, see beyond behaviours, and genuinely wants to make a difference.
If you're already Thrive trained, that's fantastic and highly valued by schools. If not, don't worry. Protocol Education can support your professional development through access to free Thrive training and other CPD opportunities.
Before you can start work, we'll need:
If you're the kind of person who can stay calm when things feel challenging, build trust over time, and recognise that every small step forward matters, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today and help make a lasting difference for a child who needs the right support at the right time.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
