Job description
We are currently recruiting for 2 SEN assessment and review officers in the Barnsley area. We have a vacancy for 1x full time & 1x part time assessment & review officer.

We are looking for skilled, experienced, motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work as a team during a period of significant change, expansion and development.

Hours of work: 08:00am - 16:30pm Monday - Friday

Salary: £140 - £160 per day. Negotiable based on level of experience.

This post holder will be responsible for
• Working directly with senior staff at a designated number of schools, ensuring that all legal requirements are met in regard to the Children and Families Act 2014.
• Implementing and coordinating the needs assessment and review process in compliance with the requirements of the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEN Code of Practice 2015.
• Directly challenging and supporting schools, professionals and families in relation to the Children and Families Act 2014 in order to prevent/reduce legal challenge against the Local Authority.
• Managing a caseload to ensure that the Local Authority is able to respond to SEND children and young peoples needs as they change.
• To assess individual children and young and develop EHC Plans that are aspirational, holistic, outcome focused and compliant with the Code of Practice 2015.

The successful candidate will
• Have an excellent working knowledge of all safeguarding procedures relating to students with additional educational and physical needs.
• Have previously worked within a SEN School for 2 years or more, within the last five years.
• Be precise and professional in your approach to the protection and continual progression of the students you will be assessing.
• Fully competent to liaise with all levels of educational, safeguarding and healthcare authorities whilst working towards a mutual outcome.
• Be available five days a week on a long-term basis.
• Genuinely have compassion towards the individuals you will be creating progression plans for, evident in your attitude and knowledge of each individual you are assigned to support.
• Be happy to work primarily in an office-based setting, and to visit schools to assess in a classroom based capacity.
