Job description
Protocol Education are currently recruiting patient, caring and proactive support assistants to work in a residential home for children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in Newcastle.

This is a permanent, part time position with an immediate start!

The successful candidate will work closely with a team of professionals to provide tailored and specific support for young people who have additional requirements including; Autism, SEMH, Hearing and Visual Impairments, Sensory Needs and will display challenging behaviour.

Essential
-Level 3 NVQ in Residential Childcare or equivalent
-Experience working with SEND children and young people either in a school or resident setting
-Working with people with complex physical and sensory disabilities
-A good understanding of the needs of children and young people with disabilities
-Good communication, both written and verbal
-Committed, calm and positive attitude

Desirable
-Experience working with PLMD, SLD and MLD is beneficial but not essential.
-Level 2 or above in British Sign Language (BSL)
-Understanding of Residential Care within school setting
-Experience of supporting people with intimate personal care tasks
-Willingness to undertake further professional training
-ICT literate
-Able to write professional reports using Microsoft Word or similar
-Current DBS on Update Service
