SEN Learning Support Assistant – Ferryhill

Protocol Education are excited to recruit a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant for a specialist school in Ferryhill.

You'll be supporting children and young people aged 4–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex additional needs, helping them access learning in a positive, structured and supportive environment.

This role would suit someone with patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.

Your Day-to-Day Duties

• Provide tailored 1:1 and group support throughout the school day.
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and sensory needs.
• Help implement visual learning strategies and consistent routines.
• Encourage participation in lessons, enrichment activities and life skills.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, education or care backgrounds.
• Understanding of autism and additional learning needs.
• Positive, adaptable and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
