A fantastic opportunity has arisen at a great Surrey primary school. Protocol Education is working with a lovely three-form-entry junior school, serving the community of Lightwater. We are looking for a forward thinking and inspirational Lead SEN Assistant to join the School in the Autumn Term.

The school offers a well-supported and vibrant learning environment with an emphasis on high levels of achievement, high expectations yet a caring ethos which focuses on the development of the whole child. There are excellent facilities both in school and out and are active with the local community of schools both for the children's learning but also for strong staff development opportunities.

You will be a vital member of the team, working with the SENCO to support and lead a small team of support assistants working with children with additional needs. You will be required to liaise with professionals to ensure that there is a collaborative approach to SEN. The school provides a well-resourced environment with children who are keen to learn and like to be challenged and we would like to recruit someone to join the fantastic staff team, who will contribute to this ethos and share enthusiasm and high expectations.


We require the following essential experience:
Experience in working across KS2
Ability to deliver a range of support strategies and programmes
To be able to support children with SEN in mainstream or specialist educational settings
To be able to implement therapy plans from external professionals
Attend annual review meetings
liaise with external agencies and professionals
To support pupils with social communication difficulties, speech and language needs, specific learning difficulties and SEMH needs such as: ADHD, ODD, attachment disorders and anxiety disorders
Ability to lead a small team
Evidence of sharing best practice

The following criteria is desirable:
HLTA status and the willingness to cover whole classes on an ad hoc basis
Physical restraint training
Training in Social, Emotional and Mental health needs
Elklan training
Makaton experience
Experience in leading whole classes
