A Sunderland Specialist school is currently hiring for teaching assistants to work with young people suffering from social, emotional and mental health needs.

This role is supporting extremely vulnerable young people who are unable to continue in mainstream schooling. These young people may have experienced adverse childhood experiences, toxic stress and trauma; they may be in foster care or living in children's homes all of which contributes to poor mental health and behavioural difficulties. This role is crucial in providing pastoral support to young people who may not be receiving that support in their own homes.

We are looking for people who are capable of being compassionate and understanding of the issues these young people face whilst providing structured help to ensure they leave school with the qualifications and skills to be functional and helpful adults in today's society.
