The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of behavioural, emotional, and social needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students who may have experienced trauma or found mainstream education challenging.
  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that support both academic achievement and emotional development.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, mental health professionals, and external agencies to provide tailored support.
  • Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to create a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

Applicants should have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs or within a similar specialist setting.
  • A positive, resilient approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A strong understanding of the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences on behaviour and learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, alongside a genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
