SEMH Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teacher to join a small, supportive school setting. This role focuses on a KS3 class of students currently working at a KS2 level, with a strong emphasis on both academic progress and emotional development.

Our school supports students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, offering a safe, nurturing environment where young people with challenging behaviour can rebuild confidence and succeed. We provide a tailored, engaging curriculum designed to meet individual needs and promote resilience, independence, and positive outcomes.

The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of behavioural, emotional, and social needs. This is a challenging yet highly rewarding position where you will:

• Build strong, trusting relationships with students, many of whom have experienced barriers in mainstream education
• Deliver differentiated, engaging lessons that support both academic achievement and emotional growth
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, mental health professionals, and external agencies
• Use effective strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour, maintaining a safe and structured learning environment

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience working with SEMH students or in a similar setting
• A calm, resilient, and positive approach
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and its impact on learning and behaviour
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a genuine commitment to supporting student success

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
