We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teacher to join a specialist school supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This provision offers a structured, supportive, and nurturing environment where students with complex behavioural challenges are supported to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

The school delivers a carefully adapted and engaging curriculum, designed to meet the diverse academic and emotional needs of its students. A strong emphasis is placed on developing resilience, promoting positive behaviour, and enabling each learner to reach their full potential.

The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties. Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing consistent, positive relationships with students, including those who may have experienced trauma or disruption to their education.
  • Planning and delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons that support both academic progress and emotional development.
  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, mental health professionals, and external agencies, to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Implementing effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to maintain a safe and purposeful learning environment.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs or within a comparable setting.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with the ability to respond effectively under pressure.
  • Sound understanding of trauma-informed practice and the impact of adverse childhood experiences on learning and behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
