SEMH Support Worker, Leeds
Protocol Education are currently seeking candidates that specialise in supporting SEMH pupils for a range of Primary settings throughout Leeds. Since schools have returned in September, many children who are vulnerable struggled to adapt to the new school routines and presented challenging behaviours and outbursts last term.
We find ourselves now in a similar position where schools look to return in the near future and likely could face the same struggles once again. Ideally we are looking for someone who is Team Teach trained, or is willing to undergo training to help support these varying behaviour and emotional needs.
The Role:
You will need to act as a role model and mentor to children who are finding the school environment a challenge, supporting them both inside and outside the classroom. This may involve working with small groups of children as well as working on a one to one basis.
We need someone who is very resilient and is able to make a positive difference with each individual pupil you support.
You will:
•Have good de-escalation skills and a variety of behaviour management techniques.
•Be highly motivated, with a 'Can do' approach to your work.
•Be a strong communicator who is a nurturing and patient and can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
•Have recent experience of working in a primary setting and supporting these needs.
