Job description
We are looking for support specialists for long term opportunities that we have within the borough of Southwark, London. As these opportunities are to work with pupils who have a variety of special educational needs, previous or existing experience is an advantage however the schools that we work with are open to considering LSA's with mainstream experience. We have a variety of SEND settings that offer candidates work throughout a variety of key stages including SEND Schools, PRU's, Inclusion centres and SEND Units that are attached to mainstream schools.

Ideally, you will;

• Be available to start immediately
• Able to work 4-5 days per week
• Existing experience working with children with communication difficulties/ASD spectrum
• Confidence dealing with pupils with different abilities
• A good knowledge of the national curriculum or confident in supporting small groups with particular subject/s (e.g. Numeracy, literacy booster groups)
• Cable of dealing with challenging behaviour, promoting focus, classroom management and on-going 1:1 support where necessary
• Good interpersonal skills.
• General knowledge / good understanding of ASD.


As an ASD support specialist (LSA), you will support and facilitate pupil's academic, social and personal development encouraging pupils to develop their social skills, cater for different abilities and age groups, incorporate creative activities to help learning and using resources to make lessons fun and creative. This will include working with pupils on a small group and individual basis, as well as supporting the class teacher.
