Job description
Protocol Education work very closely in partnership with an SEMH setting within Wakefield who cater for primary and secondary aged students who have a variety of special needs. All the students have complex social, emotional and mental health needs and many have additional severe learning and communication difficulties. Due to ongoing referrals they are regularly appointing support members of staff to work either 1-1 or with small groups supporting students.

At present we are seeking to appoint 6 SEND teaching assistants to start immediately. This role is full time, and initially on a temporary basis for a minimum of 13 weeks via Protocol Education before the opportunity of going permanent with the school if successful at interview.

The setting is extremely challenging and requires someone who is very resilient and able to build relationships with these students quickly and effectively. The school can offer students access to a wide range of vocational and GCSE courses, along with therapeutic support from an Educational Psychologist, Art Therapist, Speech Therapist as well as being able to offer Outdoor Education leading to Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Holding the Team Teach qualification or equivalent would be an advantage however not a necessity, along with prior experience of working within a similiar setting.
