September Teacher Opportunity in Richmond
A special needs teacher is required at an inclusive school in Richmond, the school itself is a well-run special school for students aged 2-19. Every pupil at the school is treated as an individual with specific programmes developed to meet their needs, therefore a holistic approach is provided to learning through the expertise of a qualified multi-disciplinary staff team. This is one of the leading schools in the area for working with students with special needs and have pupils that travel from across London to attend this school.
The class sizes are small due to the nature of the impairments and the maximum capacity is 6 children in each class. There is excellent-in class support provided by experienced high-level teaching assistants which helps to support the ratio of adults to pupils in the school.
The role requires you to be a confident teacher and experience working with complex needs and autistic students would be beneficial but is not essential. You will be required to plan the lessons, write reports and proactively participate in the general running of the school. You must be vigilant with regards to pupil's wellbeing but most importantly it is essential that you are able to think outside the box' and employ a creative attitude to teaching every child.
Main Duties:
• Teaching KS1 and KS2 curriculum or KS3 and KS4
• Assessing pupil's levels and ability
• Differentiating work based on students' needs and abilities
• Preparing, planning and marking work
• Good behaviour management of the class room
• Ensuring the schools ethos and policies are being implemented
• Liaising with parents and carers
To apply for this role you must have QTS.
Please note that you will not be considered for this position if you don't possess an enhanced DBS Disclosure, or if you are not eligible to work in the UK.
