Job description

Due to a continued expansion of our base of Secondary Schools I am currently recruiting for Maths Specialists for a variety of both day to day assignments as well as longer term and permanent positions in South Yorkshire.

The responsibilities of the Maths teacher include:
* The promotion of effective learning and teaching of Maths in Key Stages 3 and 4

* Planning and teaching Maths lessons that reflect the various requirements of the school

* Preparation and delivery of lessons according to the School's agreed scheme of work

* Ensuring that lessons are well prepared and appropriate to the ability level of the pupils. This will mean providing challenge for our most talented pupils and giving support to those with special educational needs.

* Being an effective member of the Maths department and a supportive and reliable colleague

* Using the principles of Assessment for Learning to ensure that all children make progress.

* Regular and thorough marking and assessment.

* Writing high quality end of term reports, and communicating effectively on an on-going basis with parents about the progress of their child

* Attending and contributing to departmental and staff meetings


The Maths Teacher needs to have:

* An appropriate teaching qualification i.e. (BA (Ed), BEd or PGCE)
* A sound knowledge of the Key Stage 3 and 4 Maths Curriculum
* Skills and experience in providing differentiated teaching to meet the needs of the ability range
* Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
* The ability to communicate effectively with and give direction to the Maths Teaching Assistant and other teaching assistants who assist in lessons

* Ability to form and maintain suitable relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
* The ability to use ICT in day-to-day teaching
* The ability and desire to work as an effective member of a team

Candidates will need to hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate which is current on the update Service.
