Behavioural Teaching Assistant Needed - SEMH Students

Offsite Provision from a Mainstream Secondary School - Central Leeds
January start - Long term Full Time Position

We are working with a Mainstream Secondary for their Offsite Provision - currently looking to recruit a teaching assistant to work with SEMH children who have challenging behaviour. This school does have children who have quite challenging behaviours to which you should be able to manage and understand. You will be working with children 1:1 and in small groups up to GCSE Level in a range of subjects. You will need to be confident and be able to adapt accordingly to the needs of the pupils. Your responsibilities will include monitoring the behaviour and progress of students, encouraging students to keep focus on tasks, provide feedback, and contribute in improving attainment levels. The school is close to bus and train routes. It is essential you can relate to the students and be able to communicate well and understand how to engage them.
Children you will be working with may have been recently taken out of isolation, or they are in separate classes because they will not stay in isolation. The students are therefore offsite from the main school and do present challenging behaviour. This is a challenging but rewarding role - you should have the experience and background working with challenging behaviour of students up to the age of 16. (We would consider you if you have the experience working with adults with challenging behaviour).

Key skills and experience needed:
• Strong behaviour management
• Experience working with pupils who have challenging behaviour
• Experience working with one to one and in small groups
• High levels of professionalism
• Have an enthusiastic and creative approach to learning.
• Assist with the delivery of the curriculum
• Have a great sense of humour
• Understand the challenges pupils face both in and outside of school
• SEN experience is desirable but not essential

This job will be subject to professional references and you will need to have a DBS on the update service - or be prepared to get one.
