Job description

Protocol Education's Secondary division are working with an outstanding Academy based in the heart of East London, and looking for an experienced, pro-active SEN Teaching Assistant to work with Epilepsy students. The ideal candidate for this role will need to have previous experience working in mainstream SEN setting, working directly with pupils with SEND. The Academy are looking for someone who can start immediately. This is a permanent position with an initial 6 week probation period.

Role Responsibilities:

The role will involve working under the instruction and supervision of the Head of Learning Support within an agreed system of supervision. The post holder will implement work programmers and intervention strategies with pupils and groups of pupils with SEND both in and outside the classroom, and assist in evaluating their impact.

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate the below:

• 5 GCE qualifications at Grades C or better including English and Mathematics
• Experience of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs in a secondary school context
• The ability to work independently following guidance and advice
• Relevant SEND experience working with students of Secondary level
• First Aid trained / First Aid background
• Epilepsy trained
• Experience working with challenging behavior
• Comfortable and experienced in dispensing medication

Person Specification

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Sound IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft office software proficiently.
• A desire to work with and a commitment to the safeguarding of children
• Confidence, imagination, drive and enthusiasm
• A capacity for hard work and the ability to manage its pressures
• Good observational skills
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
