Job description
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Cover Support Assistant who will supervise classes during the short term absence of the class teacher, which will include delivering work set by the regular teacher, managing student behaviour and assisting students in relevant activities.

The successful candidates will:

• Be able to work independently and with initiative
• Be interested in the development of young people
• Have good communication skills
• Be energetic, well-motivated and flexible
• Have a professional manner and plenty of common sense
• Be educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
• Be able to work with ICT including interactive whiteboards

As a Cover Tutor you will provide support and classroom cover to the school teaching staff across both the Secondary and Primary sites. You will supervise classes and ensure good behaviour and learning in the absence of a teacher. Although following lesson plans and using the work set by the class teacher you will also be required to work autonomously with minimal supervision. Further training and support in the role will be available although previous experience of working within a school environment would be an advantage. A Cover Supervisor has to take responsibility for lessons when a permanent teacher is absent. The role will involve covering any and all areas of the national curriculum; therefore the right candidate will be someone who has a flexible approach to deal with the varying classroom environments within different departments.

It is essential that you are based in the UK with right to work. Due to the nature of this position it is essential all applicants hold or are willing to apply for an enhanced DBS and are able to provide 2 referees within the last 3 years.


This school seek to appoint a Cover Supervisor. The main purpose of the post is to supervise and support students in mainstream classroom work in Key Stages 3 and 4.
To be considered for this position you must:
• demonstrate experience of working with 11-16 year olds in a classroom environment;
• be an excellent role model who strives to accomplish the very best;
• support the catholic ethos of the school;
• have a degree and GCSE passes at Grade C or above in Maths and English;
• have a good understanding of the job requirements;
• have basic ICT skills to include knowledge/use of the internet.
A full induction and training package will be provided and Cover Supervisors will be supported by senior staff.
Hours of work are 8.30am - 3.50pm, including 50 minutes unpaid breaks.
The governors of the school are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This post involves working with children and therefore if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records at an enhanced level.
