Secondary Support Teaching Assistant

Love working with young people? Calm under pressure? Great at building relationships? We're looking for confident, caring and adaptable people to join our team as Secondary Classroom Behaviour Support across local secondary schools. If you've got resilience, empathy and the confidence to lead a classroom, we'll give you the training and support to help you succeed.

You might be working alongside a classroom teacher as a TA/LSA, helping pupils with SEND or SEMH stay engaged and confident in their learning. With increased confidence and experience, you could be leading a class as a Cover Supervisor, keeping lessons on track while their usual teacher is away.

Whether you're looking for flexible work, or a permenant role within a school, this is a brilliant way to gain meaningful classroom experience while making a genuine difference.

As we work with schools across North Somerset and the surrounding areas, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable, but not at all essential, as we work with a high volume of schools across Bristol and can match you with schools in your area.

What could your day look like?

Depending on your confidence and experience level, you could be:

Supporting Learning in the Classroom

  • Encouraging pupils to stay focused and engaged
  • Supporting learning activities in lessons
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
  • Using patience, encouragement and consistency to help pupils succeed
  • Promoting positive behaviour through clear expectations and calm communication
  • Helping create a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Leading the Classroom

  • Delivering pre-planned lesson materials
  • Keeping the class focused and on task
  • Following school behaviour policies and routines
  • Managing classroom behaviour with confidence and consistency
  • Making sure pupils complete the work set by their teacher
  • Creating a calm, purposeful learning environment where everyone can succeed

Working Pattern

We know one size doesn't fit all.

That's why we offer:

  • Full-time and part-time opportunities
  • Immediate starts available
  • Flexible work from 2 to 5 days per week
  • A mixture of pre-booked assignments and morning cover requests
  • Long-term, full-time school placements
  • Flexible day-to-day work around university, family life or other commitments
  • Permanent opportunities within our partner schools
  • Schools matched to your preferred travel area wherever possible

What we'll need to get you cleared

Valid passport

Two proofs of address (such as a driving licence, utility bill or council tax statement)

An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any gaps explained

References covering the last two years

Overseas Police Check (if you've lived outside the UK for three months or more during the last five years)
