Science Teacher (Biology) – North Somerset

A fantastic school in North Somerset are looking to appointment a full time Teacher of Science (biology). The successful candidate will teach Biology to A Level as well as science, to all abilities, at Key Stage 3 and 4.

Starting 1 September 2022 (or earlier if possible), both ECTs and experienced teachers are encouraged: applications are welcome from both established and recently qualified teachers with appropriate relevant experience.

The schools are looking for someone with a degree, or strong background in core subjects to be able to lead and cover a variety of lessons throughout the schools’ timetable.

The roles:

  • Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate
  • Be accountable for the attainment, progress, and outcomes of pupils’ you teach  
  • Have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs; gifted and talented; EAL; disabilities; and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them
  • Give pupils regular feedback, both orally and through accurate marking, and encourage pupils to respond to the feedback, reflect on progress, their emerging needs and to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study
  • Establish a safe, purposeful, and stimulating environment for pupils
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members

  • Have QTS and an Honours degree or equivalent
  • Have good knowledge of current educational thinking and developments
  • Be enthusiastic punctual and personable
  • Have good classroom practice
  • Have respect for the professional expertise of others
  • Have strong analytical skills
  • Be able to prioritise and plan well
