Job description
Are you an experienced SEND teacher, capable of working with pupils with SEMH and often challenging behaviours? Or, are you a strong teacher from the maintained sector seeking a new challenge in a SEND school?

A SEND school in Teesside, which caters for pupils with SEMH, ASD and other needs, requires a strong and enthusiastic teacher for a long-term role.

Support will be in place to assist the teacher within the classroom. However, this role will entail working with pupils with SEMH, ASD and complex needs, so previous experience of working with pupils in a similar setting is undoubtedly advantageous.

- The promotion of effective learning and teaching of Science in Key Stages 3 and 4
- Planning and teaching Science lessons that reflect the various requirements of the school
- Ensuring that lessons are well prepared and appropriate to the ability level of the pupils. This will mean providing challenge for our most talented pupils and giving support to those with special educational needs.
- Being an effective member of the Science Department and a supportive and reliable colleague
- Regular and thorough marking and assessment.

The Science Teacher needs to have:

- An appropriate teaching qualification i.e. (BA (Ed), BEd or PGCE)
- A sound knowledge of the Key Stage 3 and 4 Science National Curriculum
- Skills and experience in providing differentiated teaching to meet the needs of the ability range
- Ability to form and maintain suitable relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
- The ability to use ICT in day-to-day teaching
- The ability and desire to work as an effective member of a team
