Job description
Protocol Education are currently working with an SEMH school in Leicestershire to help them in their search for a new School Counsellor.

The School has a history of successfully meeting the needs of the cities hardest to reach children and are now looking to expand their therapy team to ensure that they can expand their reach to more children across the city. If you are serious about making a difference to the most vulnerable lives, then this is the place for you. The school creates a positive working environment, a family feel and achieves its aims in regard to student's overall progression. Students join the school not wanting to attend and most leave enthusiastic about life and the opportunities ahead.

As a school counsellor you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and want to be part of our continued success in improving the life chances of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

To apply you will need;
Degree level or higher qualification as a therapist
Training and experience in working with children and young people sufficient to be confident in the role
An understanding of child development
Familiarity with special educational needs
Awareness of mental health needs of children and young people
To operate within the ethical framework for the counselling professions of BACP or similar recognised professional association.

This is a challenging role and you must be able to cope with the stressful interpersonal situations whilst maintaining a high degree of professionalism.

This post is term time only and is a 37 hour week.
