Contract: Full Time, Fixed Term (Autumn Term)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 1:00pm
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

School Caretaker Required

We are looking to appoint a reliable, proactive and hardworking Caretaker to join our welcoming school community in Watford from September 2026.

This is a key role within the school, ensuring our buildings and grounds remain safe, secure, clean and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Opening and securing the school site each day.
• Carrying out routine maintenance, minor repairs and general handyman duties.
• Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are clean, safe and well presented.
• Completing routine health and safety checks and maintaining accurate records.
• Liaising with and supervising contractors working on site.
• Setting up rooms and equipment for assemblies, meetings and school events.
• Managing deliveries and supporting site security procedures.
• Responding to emergency maintenance issues when required.
• Helping to maintain a welcoming, safe and positive environment for the whole school community.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

• Has previous experience in caretaking, site management, facilities or maintenance.
• Is practical, organised and able to work independently.
• Has a good understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Takes pride in maintaining high standards across the school site.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is reliable, trustworthy, flexible and dependable.
• Can remain calm and respond effectively to unexpected situations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
