Job description
Protocol Education are assisting their client in looking for Residential Care Assistants that are looking to develop their experience and skills working with young children with special needs such as moderate learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism and other complex needs.

As a leading provider within the education/residential sector we are assisting a local Residential Unit in Gateshead, in the need of specialist staffing requirements. If successful, you will be required to work with children in a residential setting motivating the independence of children and providing gold standard care.. The positions available are initially shifts on week to week basis however for the right candidate a long term position would be up for consideration.

Experience isn't essential but a bonus!, however you must be passionate about working with children and possess the ability to build a good rapport with the children.

You will be:

• Committed to working with children & young people
• Resilient!
• Enthusiastic & highly motivated
• Able to make decisions and support others
• An energetic team player, role model and able to handle difficult situations with humour and tact
• Be prepared to work shifts early, late and night shifts including sleep ins; on a Rota Basis
• Currently hold or working towards Level 3 in Residential Childcare/Children and Young People OR NVQ Health and Social Care
• Creative & be able to use your own initiative;
• Poses excellent written, IT & communication skills
• Committed to personal development / reflective practice
• A full UK Driving Licence (bonus but not essential)
• Waking night positions available (please mention when applying if interested in this position)
