Religious Studies Teacher – Secondary School

Location: East London
Contract: Full-time / Long-term
Start Date: ASAP/SEPTEMBER

Big questions. Brilliant students. A classroom that actually listens.

We’re on the lookout for a Religious Studies Teacher ready to bring energy, empathy, and a bit of spark to a vibrant secondary school in East London.

This is a place where diversity isn’t just talked about, it’s lived every day. Different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs all in one classroom, which makes RS lessons genuinely meaningful. No forced engagement here, these students have opinions, and they’re ready to share them.

The role

You’ll be stepping into a school where RS matters and where your lessons won’t just fill time, they’ll start conversations.

  • Teaching Religious Studies across KS3 and KS4
  • Leading thoughtful, respectful discussions on belief, ethics, and identity
  • Creating lessons that feel relevant to students’ real lives
  • Supporting a wide range of learners in a diverse, inner-city setting
  • Working with a supportive Humanities team who’ve got your back

What the school offers

  • A diverse and inclusive school community that reflects East London life
  • Supportive SLT who understand the realities of the classroom
  • Strong behaviour systems, so you can focus on teaching
  • A well-planned curriculum with room for your own ideas
  • A team that values collaboration, no lone wolves here

What we’re looking for

  • UK QTS or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Religious Studies in a secondary school
  • Confidence in leading discussions and managing different viewpoints
  • A calm, engaging presence in the classroom
  • Someone who sees the value in every student’s perspective

Why East London?

Because nowhere else quite compares.

You’ll be teaching students with real stories, real opinions, and real curiosity about the world. It’s fast-paced, it’s rewarding, and yes, it keeps you on your toes, but that’s what makes it so worth it.

What you’ll get through Protocol Education

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
  • Free CPD, including courses to support behaviour and SEND in urban settings
  • A dedicated consultant who knows East London schools inside out
  • Opportunities in a variety of schools, so you can find your perfect fit
  • Ongoing support, from your first day to your next step
