Job description
A primary school in Barnsley are seeking to appoint a teaching assistant from September to work initially in the Reception class.

The school is inclusive, forward thinking and fast moving with happy, well-engaged children and committed staff members who ‘go the extra mile’ for our children.

The school are looking for a flexible team player who is prepared to support the class teacher, other colleagues and children. You will need to be well motivated, tenacious and be confident enough to use your own initiative when the need arises. In addition, you must have a firm but fair manner and a genuine desire to support the individual development of the children with whom you work. You will be expected to uphold all the school’s policies and procedures, paying particular attention to the positive behaviour and reward strategies.

A genuine desire to work with children in the early years and a good working knowledge of the EYFS curriculum are key to this role.

Applicants must have:

- Relevant experience working with children in the Early Years and, preferably, children of school age

- Excellent communication skills – both written and oral

- The ability to use basic technology to support teaching & learning

- A minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Maths

- A positive attitude and a desire to work as a member of a team
