If you enjoy working with young people and want a flexible, rewarding start in schools, this role is ideal. It’s perfect for Psychology graduates or anyone interested in behaviour, wellbeing and cognition. You’ll gain hands-on insight into behaviour strategies, emotional regulation, child development and learning/memory, making it an excellent stepping stone into educational psychology, clinical psychology or teaching.

Our educators love working flexibly day-to-day in schools that they love and who value them. However, many of our candidates secure long-term roles within weeks of being with us. Whether you're looking for day-to-day or long-term, Protocol can leverage our strong relationships with schools to find you the best match.

As an Unqualified Teacher, you’ll step in for a teacher who has called in sick, though you are not expected to teach; just to lead and guide. You'll lead pupils in the classroom, helping them stay engaged with learning. It’s a brilliant way to build real classroom experience, boost your CV and develop skills that are highly valued in psychology and education careers.

Pay: £95–£100 per day
Location: North Somerset and Bristol, with placements close to where you live. Driving not required, but always appreciated as it expands your opportunities.

For day-to-day roles, the ill classroom teacher will leave tasks for the students to complete. You must explain the instructions clearly, engage children to ensure they understand the task, and keep them on task and motivated. You should be adaptable, able to have professional and productive rapport with children and a strong presence. You can find your personal classroom management style that suits your personality, but professionalism, confidence, kindness and resilience are must-have qualities.
