The Role
We are looking for enthusiastic Psychology graduates to work as Teaching Assistants in schools across Middlesbrough. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals considering careers in educational psychology, clinical psychology, teaching, or youth work. You will gain valuable, hands-on experience supporting students with a range of needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and SEND.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assist in managing behaviour and promoting positive engagement
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to support individual learning plans
  • Help students develop social, emotional, and communication skills
  • Observe and report on student progress and wellbeing
  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment

Requirements

  • A degree in Psychology (or a related field)
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable

  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
  • Knowledge of SEND, SEMH, or behaviour support strategies
  • Aspirations to pursue a career in education or psychology

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
