Psychology Graduate Primary Learning Support Assistant

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Gateshead is looking for a Psychology Graduate Primary Learning Support Assistant to work alongside experienced teachers and the SENCO, supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

This role is ideal if you're considering a future career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Teaching or Child Mental Health Services.

You'll play an important role in helping children overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and make positive progress both academically and socially.

Your Role

As a Primary Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups
• Assist children with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and SEMH
• Encourage emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Support literacy, numeracy and classroom learning activities
• Build trusting relationships that promote confidence and independence
• Help deliver targeted interventions alongside teaching staff
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral team

Every day is different, providing valuable experience working with children who require additional support.

We're Looking For Someone Who Is

• A Psychology graduate or holds a related degree
• Passionate about child development and inclusive education
• Patient, empathetic and resilient
• Confident communicating with children and staff
• Keen to develop experience within SEND
• Willing to learn through practical classroom experience

Previous experience is welcomed but not essential.
