Job description
Job Title: Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant
Location: Lewisham
Contract: 6 weeks +
Pay: £58 - £75 per day

Are you a competent LSA/TA with SEND experience? Or, do you have a keen interest in working in a SEND school setting and are looking for a new challenge?

Protocol Education is currently recruiting for experienced SEND TA/LSA's to work in primary schools in the Lewisham and Greenwich area. We currently have a wide range of exciting positions available for either day-to-day or long-term supply with pupils that need support in primary schools.

Your main duties will involve:
• Inspiring and engaging with young children or adults with physical and mental difficulties.
• Assessing individual learning needs and working on a group basis.
• Preparing resources to facilitate the delivery of engaging lessons.
• Assessing and reporting on individual pupils' progress.
• Assisting with the personal care needs of pupils, which may include: feeding, changing and manual handling.
• Liaising with parents, carers and professionals such as mainstream teachers, education welfare officers, social workers and Healthcare professionals.

Given the specific requirements associated with working with SEND pupils, previous or existing experience working with pupils with PMLD/SLD would be desirable. However, this is certainly not essential provided that you are able to demonstrate a strong interest in working with SEND pupils, with a commitment to furthering your knowledge and skills in this rewarding area of education.

Other experience & qualifications that are considered preferable include:

• Team Teach/MAPA qualified
• Positive handling
• Restorative justice
• First Aid trained

Successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory references, and an up to date DBS or a willingness to apply for a DBS through Protocol Education.

Protocol Education offers all Teaching Assistants:
• Excellent rates of pay
• Professional support from our team of experienced consultants
• A wide variety of different positions, both day to day and long term
• Continued support through all placements
• Free CPD courses, on an ongoing basis throughout your continued employment with Protocol Education

If these roles are of interest to you, please contact Tariq at Protocol Education on 0208 461 8902 for further information. Or alternatively, please send your updated CV to tariq.kanani@protocol-education.com.
